Gold Leaf Mosaic Fish Artwork

Kensington Gilders created this striking mosaic artwork featuring gold leaf smalti tiles depicting fish in a classical Roman style. The centrepiece shows a leaping fish rendered in gold, amber and red tesserae, flanked by two smaller fish, all set against a vivid blue mosaic ground that evokes the sea.

The gilded frame surrounds the central panel, while the flanking walls continue the aquatic theme with mosaic seaweed, shells and marine life in natural tones. The combination of gold leaf mosaic work with traditional tesserae techniques produces a piece of genuine grandeur, drawing on centuries of mosaic tradition while remaining fresh and contemporary in its setting.
